Minimalist Urban Bicycles

The Denny Bike Was Built to Handle the Challenges of Urban Cycling

The Denny bike is a bicycle -- built by fabricator Tom Sizemore of renowned design consultancy firm Teague -- that combines a minimalist appearance with a well-stocked arsenal of technology. The bike was designed to perform equally well in heavy traffic, rolling hills and pouring rain.

The Denny, which was built for the Oregon Manifest bike design project, is fitted with an electric motor on the front hub to boost pedaling, as well as an automatic shifter. To tackle rainy conditions, the Denny has a very simple component that uses rubber bristles to break up the water, rather than the usual clunky fender.

The Denny also has a range of safety features such as daytime running lights, brake lights and turn signals that are activated by bumping the brake handles.
