Going Gridless Experiments

The Amish Project Documents Jake Reilly's Life Without Technology

The Amish Project is a 90 day experiment that Jake Reilly undertook in which he cut off all technology-driven communication. Reilly saw that his friends were becoming sucked in by technology and hanging out meant sitting in a room while everyone glared at their own laptop.

Reilly got rid of his phone, deleted his social media profiles, cut off his e-mail and put away his computer. Living life without technology was tough at first, but as time went on Reilly found that his quality of life improved greatly.

The Amish Project ends with a powerful message that responds to skeptics who say "But this is the world we live in." Reilly simply says "Well maybe it’s time we actually live in it?"
