'Testing Ground' Lets the Public Try Out Prototype Furniture

Swedish design studio 'Form Us With Love' and Polish furniture brand 'MDD' are working to tackle a mutual problem with 'Testing Ground', an installation at Stockholm Design Week. In order to make their furniture designs as user-friendly as possible, the two companies are offering up a handful of prototypes to the visitors at Testing Ground, giving the studios the chance to get real-time feedback on their chair concepts.

Unlike with a software product, for example, it's virtually impossible to run A/B testing on furniture. The cost of production is too high to be able to release anything short of a final product; even the idea of a beta version belies the realities of taste that intersect with function in the world of furniture. Testing Grounds is thus an interesting and creative way to make products more useful for the people who'll end up using them.
