Delightful Art Deco Illuminators

The Terrace Lamp Brightens Up Spaces as a Retro-Modern Hybrid

The Terrace Lamp takes inspiration from design of the 1930s, yet it's got a distinct freshness about its appearance. Handmade production techniques, vintage forms and iconic colors combine into a piece that simply pops. It would be the highlight of a contemporary room.

Made by Robert and Brenda Zurn of Damm, this table lamp has a thick stand made from ash wood. It's kept smooth, cylindrical and natural over its lower half; meanwhile, the upper portion has been turned for a ribbed texture and finished in bright mint-hued paint. The top of the Terrace Lamp is a hand-spun aluminum lampshade that's flat and disk-shaped and capped with a small brass finial. It embodies a whimsical interplay of forms, materials and pigments, emitting a playful vibrancy even when it's switched off.
