Artist Leonardo Ulian Creates Technology Mandalas By Recycling

Italian-born Leonardo Ulian remarkably recycles old computer and radio components to construct eye-catching technological mandalas. The artist is no stranger to working on mandalas, but takes the artworks to a new dimension by recycling and offering subjective interpretations to his works.

When one thinks of mandalas there is a spiritual connotation to them. Ulian embraces this spirituality by remaining true to the mandala design form, but makes it modern by using contemporary abandoned materials. Ulian gathers computer parts, circuitry, microchips and radio parts to create a stockpile for his creative outlet. Then Ulian proceeds to compile the pieces together to form an intricate web, ultimately lined up to resemble a traditional mandala.

Ulian’s super creative mishmash of technology mandalas are spiritual symbols. Ulian's recycling helps the environment and entices viewers to question their interpretation of spirituality in the context of a modern world.
