PrimaLoft Harnesses NASA Technology to Preserve Batteries

One of the most innovative and performance-driven fabric designers in the industry, PrimaLoft, is aiming to save one's phone battery from sub-zero temperatures with a high-tech fabric insulation. Known as 'aerogel,' the material has been used by NASA for preservation of rovers and other electronics. PrimaLoft is looking to utilize it in the outdoor industry in order to solve the pesky problem of phones dying during winter sport activities.

The tech insulation "is essentially the world's lightest solid." Artogel is almost weightless with an extremely low density and thermo conductivity, which makes it a likely solution to the aforementioned problem. PrimaLoft has worked extensively around the obstacles, like the tech insulation's lack of breathability and sensibility to water. Eventually, the outdoor firm developed PrimaLoft Gold Aerogel, which is incorporated into pockets, gloves and boot insoles.
