Expressively Sophisticated Teapots

Artist Ita Drew Injects Each Teapot Head with Personality

For her teapot heads project, artist Ita Drew makes each and every teapot head look like a sophisticated upper class woman.

A mixed media ceramic artist, Ita Drew's teapot heads are "hideously sublime." The women of her teapots have a demure expression, and are elegantly dressed. They have long necks, wearing red lipstick, and pretty hats are perched atop their heads. Like a traditional teapot, there is a handle and spout on either side of their head. These teapot heads are filled with so much life that it can be difficult to maintain eye contact with them.

While I'm personally a big tea drinker. If I were fortunate enough to own a teapot head by Ita Drew, I don't think I could ever bring myself to actually use it. Pouring tea from a woman's head is too weird for me.
