The Tanning Printer Uses the Sun to Sear Images and Text onto Stationary

The Tanning Printer is a conceptual printer that uses the rays of the sun as a substitute for ink. The printer is designed to be used without ink cartridges or electricity and was designed by Hosung Jung, Junsang Kim, Seungin Lee and Yonggu Do.

The Tanning Printer is designed to concentrate the sun's rays so that it can lightly burn the image or text it is printing onto the paper. The burning is just dark enough to show up without compromising the paper's integrity. The Tanning Printer has solar panels that collect energy from the sun to provide for all of the printer's power needs. The designers make a compelling case for why we need a printer like this in our lives, pointing out that nearly 70 percent of all printed documents involve white paper and black in. A printer such as the Tanning Printer that is free to run and eco-friendly sounds like a winner in my book.
