Mouth-Dropping Clocks

The Sweep Clock Has a Drooping Lower Lip to Help it Maintain Balance

In many ways, one might call the Sweep Clock a fairly simple timepiece, yet it has a wonderfully quirky feature that enhances it in a practical and a philosophical way. Designed by Philippe Tabet, the cute blue chronograph comprises a basic marked face and a hollow plastic shell with a peculiar extruded rim. This enables you to balance the otherwise cylindrical object stably on the table.

With conceptual inspiration from the idea of equilibrium, the Sweep Clock received this shape and its name. You may actually rotate the alarm clock in any orientation that you wish, but consistency is maintained with it propped up on its protruded edge. With this system, 12 o'clock will always be when the hour and minute hands meet at the top.
