Simplicity-Driven Architecture

The Swedbank Headquarters Bring Workers Together

The new Swedbank headquarters by 3XN firm focuses on simplicity and bringing departments together to ensure better communication between workers. Instead of making a building that had clearly separated departments, the firm used a "triple-V" floor plan to adjust how most offices are laid out.

Most buildings for work are laid out with wings, which contributes to this atmosphere of disconnect within an organization. The Swedbank headquarters avoids this altogether and has two central staircases to help with the flow of communication and people throughout the office. From the outside the building has plenty of windows, which is important to help workers focus with natural lighting. The building also has communal areas such as conference and dining sections, providing plenty of opportunity for workers to mingle and come together during events. Photo Credits: designboom, swedbank
