The Super Mario Run Rebrands the Nintendo Universe for Smartphones

Nintendo might have taken its time releasing mobile versions of its beloved games to smartphones, but the brand has recently put together the Super Mario Run that is set to be available for download in December. The game offers a familiar pixelated and two dimensional universe that lets players run as Mario through different locations. The game is a mix of retro and modern elements that offers a nostalgic reboot of the popular game.

The game offers three different playing modes with the object being to collect coins while moving through obstacles in a two dimensional interface. Many familiar characters and settings from former Nintendo games will appear in the app. Users can play alone or virtually against other competitors.

Super Mario Run will be exclusive to Apple and iOS systems, but will most likely make its way to Android platforms as well.
