Sundust by Sara Golish is an Art Series Made for Summer

Although it might be more appropriate to pay homage to sun goddesses during times of rain and snow, Sundust by Sara Golish, a visual artist based in Toronto, Canada, is a series also appropriate for the summer season. After all, this is when they shine the brightest. Comprised of ten fictional deities, the portraits are created using charcoal, conté and gold ink.

A departure from her signature style, Sundust by Sara Golish was shown at Brockton Collective during the summer solstice. Inspired by the women of Africa, the studio writes, "Compelled by the lack of female personified sun deities, Golish aims to revise and re-examine the male dominated sun god through the recasting of the past in order to re-envision the future." Strong and beautiful, these are gods everyone can celebrate.
