The Stype Typewriter Brings Skype Back in Time

Prepare to have your mind blown by the Stype Typewriter. The ingenious machine was created by Daniel Huhndt and combines the technological advancements of popular chatting program Skype with the traditional, vintage look and feel of a typewriter. In other words, Huhndt combines the analog with the digital with his creation.

He says that using "some solenoids, relays, pushbuttons, some parts of a cheap keyboard, an arduino mega and a mac mini," the Stype Typewriter can be used to send messages online. You read that right; a typewriter is able to send message to whoever you are communicating with online.

Whatever is typed onto the sheet of paper is sent to your conversation partner, and their typed responses are then processed automatically and typed onto that same paper, saving the conversation forever.

Currently, the Stype Typewriter is able to communicate with a chatbot named Eliza, but it is expected to connect to the Internet, and specifically to Skype, very soon.
