Say Architects Creates a Chic Facade in a Challenging Spot

Angelot is an incredibly stylish patisserie, located in Hangzhou, China. The aesthetic of the facade and the interior was designed by Say Architects, who were challenged by the overall placement of the business. The structural disadvantages included an entrance that is set back from the street, a ventilation shaft that partially blocked the storefront, and an unpleasant view from the inside. Say Architects attempted to connect these obstacles "with a simple concept — a gradually disclosed sense of ritual."

Thanks to sensibilities and approaches that extend to design-forward and contemporary spaces, the stylish patisserie boasts marble-lined display windows, a modern grid-like facade that is attention-captivating, and an interior that is "intimate and soft," with a minimalist color palette and natural furniture.
