Latticed Performing Center Architecture

Studio Pei-Zhu Begins Work on a Structure in China

Studio Pei-Zhu has started work on a performing arts center in China, which aims to blend in with the surrounding natural environment.

The building uses a latticed look, and is located between mountains and a lake at its base. As such the developers wanted to do as much as they could to ensure that the building didn't impose on the habitat of the area. From the side the structure actually looks like a large tree with an extended canopy area to keep out the elements. When lit up it is anything short of stunning, especially with the background of mountains and sky sitting behind the building.
