RIBA's Regent Street Shop Windows Project Features Teamwork

The RIBA Regent Street Shop Windows Project has created a collaboration between architects and retailers.

The two have come together to create inventive, intriguing storefronts and window installations in flagship stores along London's Regent Street. In fact, several of the examples are inspired by the street itself. One such example is the Atmos-Topshop partnership, which consists of a ribbed, white "canyon," which is intended to symbolize the countless shoppers who pound the pavement down Regent every day. Atmos representative Alex Haw describes the installation as a "celebration of the flow of humanity." He feels it is an authentic way for the store's quiet ambiance to enter the consciousness of those onto the street.

Besides thrilling and captivating pedestrians and shoppers, the project aims to defy people's expectations of what an architect actually does.
