Road-Straddling Buses

The Elevated Transit Bus Would Glide Overtop of Beijing Traffic Jams

The rise of car ownership in Beijing and elsewhere around China in conjunction with rising pollution levels has increased the need for modern solutions like this straddling bus concept called the Elevated Transit Bus.

Instead of requiring a separate track or road to travel on, the Elevated Transit Bus would glide overtop of roads, past traffic, to provide riders with a way to beat congestion. The Elevated Transit Bus would operate on a track that could be installed onto the sides of roads and is the work of Beijing-based company Transit Explore Bus.

The straddling bus would be able to glide overtop of two lanes of traffic from two meters above and travel up to 60km/h with up to 1,400 passengers.
