The Stingray Coffee Table Combines Nature and Sculpture

As its name suggests, the Stingray Coffee Table was inspired by the stingray (a marine fish related to sharks) and its undulating, curvy lines makes a convincing case.

Designed by Stephan Veit for the German manufacturer Draenert, the Stingray Coffee Table offers an interesting combination of sculpture and function. Its flowing angles create unique shadows and according to the manufacturer, the wavy base "reflects the harmonic swinging ‘pectoral fins’ and gives the table a special dynamic and lightness." The glass top also acts like floating clear water over the ‘stingray.’
