Mountain-Inspired Concrete Houses

Steyn Studio' Sierra House Has an Interesting Modern Aesthetic

Steyn Studio creates a house that is simultaneously minimalist, contemporary and spotlights an interesting design feature. The 'Sierra House' is identifiable by its roof which is strongly inspired by the lines of a mountain ridge. In fact, the name itself — Sierra, hints at the topography of the structure as the word translates to 'saw' and 'mountain' in Spanish.

Steyn Studio sought to produce a "reinterpretation of the typical townhouse" and they most certainly succeed in doing so. Moreover, the architecture firm's design is made to answer to the importance of sustainability. As a result, solar panels are placed on the roof between the two peaks.

The interior of the Sierra House is quite complicated, however, Steyn Studio arranges it in a very agreeable manner that answers to contemporary sensibilities.
