A talented sand sculptor has created a massive Star Wars sand castle inspired by the desert planet Jakku which appears in the new 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' film.
The Star Wars sand sculpture is located in the Tottori Sand Dunes in Japan, a field of volcanic ash with sand formations that have naturally evolved over the last hundred thousand years. At their most extreme, the dunes have basins 130 feet deep and hills 165 feet tall.
Katsuhiko Chaen created the Star Wars sand castle, which is the first Star Wars sand sculpture to be officially licensed by Lucasfilm. Measuring 11 feet tall and using 160 tons of sand, it features beloved characters C-3PO and R2-D2, the recognizable Star Wars logo and a fleet of the ‘X-wing’ starfighters that destroyed the Death Star.
