Sci-Fi Staple Portraits

James Haggerty Used Staples to Create His Star Wars Art Project

Staples usually hone the single purpose of keeping things intact, but this Star Wars art project proves otherwise. Artist James Haggerty managed to create mosaics of the sci-fi movie's most iconic characters using them.

By using thousands of multi-colored staples and intricately placing them on his canvases, James created perfect images of Darth Vader, Greedo and C-3PO. The numerous staples placed side-by-side created textures that make the characters look freakishly real -- you would never guess that they were created with skinny pieces of metal.

The New York-based artist took an interesting approach to traditional mosaics and it clearly turned out amazingly. Maybe instead of seeing small ceramic tile artworks in homes, we will start to see staple-infused ones.
