A Floating Star Trek Logo Shined in the London Sky for Earth Hour

In an incredibly creative way to promote the highly anticipated Star Trek: Into Darkness film, Paramount Studios arranged to have a floating Star Trek logo light up the London, England sky during Earth Hour.

The mesmerizing effect was achieved with 30 LED-equipped quadrocopter drones perfectly positioned in the night sky to create the ubiquitous Star Trek logo. Since most of the London lights were shut off in celebration of Earth Hour, the glowing drones shined brightly in the London sky. The floating Star Trek logo was created by Ars Electronica Futurelab & Ascending Technologies. The 30 drones created a Star Trek logo that hovered 118 feet above the ground and measured about 308 feet tall. The highest point of the logo was 426 feet above the ground.

The best part? No one had to boldly go where no man has gone before to see this awesome promotion.
