Fill Up Faster Using an Efficient Square Funnel

Designed by Guo Bo, Xie Qiuquan, Wang Shuai, Zheng Jianwen & Yang Fukai, the Square Funnel is a winner of the 2012 Red Dot Award for concept design.

Unlike a typical round funnel, the square funnel's design relieves the air pressure that the traditional ones could not. The square design is not only for the top bowl-shaped part but also for the neck. Traditional necks are cylindrical, which fit perfectly into the necks of bottles, which obstructs the airflow. By inserting the square neck into the round the opening, air pressure can be released through the gaps on the side, which in turn increases the speed of the liquid that is draining into the container.
