2012 will mark the last stand of Peter Parker as Spiderman dies in Marvel's 700th issue of the 50-year-old comic book.
After a final standoff, the Amazing Spiderman will fall to his doom in the December 2012 volume of the famous Marvel superhero. As issue 700 comes to an end, readers will find out that although the web-sprouting vigilante meets his demise, a new hero, or villain rather, will take the reins and become the new Superior Spiderman.
Spidey's archnemesis, Doctor Octavius will step up and take over the lead role for the Marvel comics, becoming the Superior Spiderman, which will be released on January 9, 2013. According to Marvel editors Dan Slott and Ryan Stegman, the new comic book vigilante will have a darker costume and an edgier attitude.
