'SPG Keyless' Lets Guests Enter Their Rooms Using Their Smartphones

Starwood Hotels & Resorts SPG app offers guests a host of options to make their stay as convenient as possible, not the least of which is the SPG Keyless feature. Through the app, guests are able to use their smartphones to unlock their rooms, eliminating the need for key cards (and the stress that comes with keeping track of them.)

Rooms in Starwood facilities are equipped with standard key card locks, but the systems also have a sensor for registering smartphones via Bluetooth. Once the SPG app is downloaded, users can check in to their rooms, get their room number, and use their phones as their keys. In other words, SPG Keyless entirely eliminates the time guests would otherwise spend waiting around at the front desk.
