The Speedmaster Skywalker X-33 Can Withstand the Rigors of Space Travel

The Speedmaster Skywalker is an astronaut-targeted watch that was developed around an idea patented by European Space Agency astronaut Jean-Francois Clervoy, whose three space missions in the 1990s convinced him that astronaut wristwatches could use improvement.

The watch came together courtesy Clervoy's idea and a collaboration between the European Space Agency and watchmaker Omega, and is designed to withstand the rigors of space travel while offering an assortment of nifty functions.

The watch is equipped with Omega's advanced multi-functional quartz chronograph movement in addition to thermo-compensated integrated circuits and upgraded software. This technology is housed in a brushed titanium case.

The watch features a dual digital/analog dial readout with black and white hour and minute hands coated with Super-LumiNova and a red second hand.
