Within an intensive seven-week training program where dogs practice a variety of motion techniques such as pushing and pulling, these dogs are ready to get behind the wheel. Using simple codes like A for accelerate, the canines are able to recognize these commands and do as they are trained. What spawned the SPCA New Zealand to think of using dogs as drivers is mind-boggling but their tremendous efforts and success cannot be undermined. Unfortunately, the driving pups will still need guidance from the passenger sitting next to them to know which way to steer, which means inebriated passengers are probably not the best for these scenarios.
