This South African Photographer Captures Jamaica's Male Adult Stars

Pieter Hugo is a South African photographer who is known for his genuine and expressive lens.

In early 2016, he took to Jamaica to capture the male adult stars who face brutal discrimination in the country. In addition, Pieter Hugo includes the 'Gully Queens' in his photo book, a term used to describe members of the Kingston gay community who have been excommunicated from their society with horrible conditions.

As explained by Carlos Nazario, the Gully Queens are forced to live in inhabitable drains under the city and face constant violence from police and citizens. With his work, the South African photographer looks to generate a conversation regarding the treatment of the gay community in an area where homosexuality is still considered illegal.
