Spiral-Patterned Soup Bowls

These Soup Bowls Are Inspired By the Patterns Of Gravitational Waves

When you think 'soup bowls', you probably don't think of magnificently gorgeous designs inspired by the wonders of fundamental physics. But these spiral-patterned soup bowls aren't your average bowls.

Modernist chef Nathan Myhrvold has created some pretty delectable dishes in his time, but he has now successfully overseen the creation of this beautiful soup bowls, that are designed specifically to mimic the beautiful spiral patterns of gravitational waves.

Myhrvold went about creating a mathematical model that mimicked the gravitational waves, before inputting the model into 3D form using a machine shop mill, allowing for the creation of a solid aluminum prototype. This aluminum model was then used to make a plaster mold.

The end result is a wonderfully gorgeous spiral-patterned soup bowl that is truly beautiful to look at and use.
