Inexpensive Hearing Aids

For-Profit Company 'Sound World Solutions' Offers an Alternative

David Green is behind Sound World Solutions, a social business that he describes as "empathetic capitalism." He recently did a short interview with John Ydsti of NPR where he explained his approach that was very much akin to a turn away from charity and toward for-profit companies that can go to scale. Interestingly enough, Green divulged his salary -- between $100,000 and $200,000 a year -- and said he was satisfied with that. Many in the social business sphere have been discussing salary caps lately.

The company itself makes a range of products including a personal sound amplifier called the CS10, which is aimed at being a inexpensive version of a high-tech hearing aid.
