Sound-Coordinated Graphics

The 'Sound of Color' Graphic Uses Colors Inspired by Music

'Sound of Color' is a graphic that consists of beautiful color palettes inspired by music. Put together by Kelly-Moore Paints, the graphic draws on research from the University of California-Berkeley that suggests that our brains are wired to form connections between music and colors, depending on how the music makes us feel.

It is believed that particular colors evoke particular emotions. For example, pink is associated with romance, light blue with healing and dark green with ambition. By associating music with emotions that can then be associated with colors, a music-color connection is formed.

The Sound of Color series used this theory to create original palettes -- using Kelly-Moore paints -- based on five albums by the Beatles, Beyonce, Mumford & Sons, Florence and the Machine and Daft Punk.
