Literary Retail Takeovers

The Sonia Rykiel Flagship in Paris Has Been Transformed into a Library

The Sonia Rykiel flagship store in Paris is currently transformed into a charming literary cafe featuring floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. The powerful scene is apart of a pop-up concept being featured at the store that has seen the inclusion of nearly 50,000 books.

A joint project between artist André Saraiva and art director Thomas Lenthal, the redesigned space makes for a curious backdrop for the most recent collection, with the floor-to-ceiling pine wood shelves creating a dizzying pattern.

The result is a unique retail space that is at once part-boudoir, part-boutique and part-literary cafe. The takeover is a clever integration of the pop-up phenomenon, as it is a clever way to work around the lack of need for a space, while infusing the retail experience with something new and exciting for the consumer.
