Pepsico is making soda purchasing fun with their new social vending machines. Sporting touchscreen interfaces, these vending machines allow users to not only purchase their favorite Pepsico drinks, but to gift a drink to a friend or even a complete stranger.
To gift a drink to a friend, simply choose a beverage you'd like to purchase and enter the recipient's name and cell phone number into the vending machine. A text message will be sent with a code that will allow users to redeem their gift at any of these new interactive machines. You can even record a 10-second message for your friend that will play back when they redeem their drink. Those feeling charitable can give away a free drink with the machine's "Random Acts of Refreshment" function.
Personally, I can't wait for these social vending machines to catch on with other products so that we can do all of our Christmas shopping with little to almost no traveling involved!
