Soap-Based Toiletry Packaging

'Soapack' Vessels are Made with Vegetable Oil-Based Soap

In an effort to reduce plastic waste, designers are coming up with a variety of sustainable solutions that mindfully use materials or allow for packaging designs to be creatively repurposed after they have served their intended purpose—Soapack sets itself apart as a series of soap-based bottles that can be quickly disintegrated when its contents have been emptied. The sculptural vessels are made with vegetable oil-based soap, mineral pigments and a thin layer of beeswax to make the containers practical and waterproof.

While the cosmetic and personal care product industry is full of plastic packaging designs that take years to break down, Soapack bottles can be dissolved in water or displayed as keepsakes like precious bottles of perfume.

The innovative design of Soapack was created by Central Saint Martins post-graduate student Mi Zhou.
