Specialized Snow Cycles

Sno Vehicle was Designed to Accommodate Avid Cyclists in the Wintertime

Plenty of hardcore cyclists do ride their road bikes on ice-covered streets, but most people would be more drawn to something like these snow cycles. The Venn Industrial Design Consultancy worked to hybridize the conventional two-wheeler, adapting it to the extreme and unstable conditions of the winter season.

The Sno Bike is technically a unicycle, sporting one single wheel. This has been positioned at the back, while the the front has been equipped with a lone ski, enabling the conveyance to plough through powder and glide over frozen patches. To enhance the steadiness and safety of this design, the creative team imagined this concept snow scooter with tank-style tracks over the back tire. This would give these snow cycles greater areas of contact with the ground for better grip. I can see them used effectively in the suburbs and the wilderness alike, satisfying niche markets among both sporty and timid riders.
