Rapper NFT Mixes

Snoop Dogg Drops NFT Mixtape Death Row Session: Vol. 2 on 4/20

Sound.xyz, a startup music platform with a slew of Web3 native tools, partnered with legendary American rapper Snoop Dogg to drop Death Row Session: Vol. 2 (420 Edition) as a non-fungible token (NFT). The mix included a collaboration with 4 other artists trailblazing in the Web3 music space: MoRuf, Iman Europe, Black Dave, and Heno. This follows Snoop Dogg’s earlier acquisition of the Death Row Records label from MNRK Music Group in February.

"We will be putting out artists through the metaverse," said Snoop Dogg via social audio app Clubhouse. "Just like we broke the industry when we were the first independent to be major, I want to be the first major in the metaverse."

1,000 copies rapidly sold out the first day for a total of 100 ETH, or roughly $289,000 USD at the time of posting. Owners of the NFT mix have the ability to leave a message on the site's comment wall. If resold, the message would be deleted and replaced with one left by the NFT’s new owner. A ‘Golden Egg’ was hidden in a randomly selected timestamp, and the winner was announced after the copies sold out. The lucky winner received a signed jumpsuit from Snoop Dogg.
