Self-Regenerating Advertisements

This Smart Poster Uses AI to Be the Best Version of Itself

Augmented reality, facial recognition and beacon technology are all becoming more prevalent in the world of marketing, but in the UK, M&C Saatchi is applying artificial intelligence to create a smart poster series.

The Artificially Intelligent Posters have built-in Microsoft Kinect cameras built in, which are used to gauge a person's mood and interest in the advertisement as they walk by. From this information, the billboard is able to regenerate new layouts, copy, fonts and images in the hopes of making a more pleasing arrangement that will catch the attention of someone walking by.

As for the ads that fail to cause engagement, the algorithm removes them so that other combinations can be tested out. Like a living organism, the billboard is described as having genes that will mutate and gradually improve over time.
