This smart home promises only the cleanest air and most energy-efficient living possible. This smart home was created by Japanese car maker Honda and has been built on the campus of the University of California.

A smart home is a difficult thing to make because it's a vague term. Usually with smart products, you see a clear need for the product to be innovated upon but with a home there are so many different things one could do. The energy efficiency of the house starts from the ground up with the foundation being built on pozzolan rather than cement.

A geothermal heat pump is used for all the heating and hot water in the home, which also makes for more energy efficiency. Outside of that, all the other energy issues are managed by a a complex energy management system.
