Harrowing Candid Slum Captures

The 'Dead Traffic' Slum Photo Series is Haunting and Raw

Taking us through the desolate streets and nooks of Sierra Leone's largest slum, photographer Kim Thue’s slum photo series 'Dead Traffic' is haunting and horrifying at the same time.

The London-based photographer wanted to document what daily life was like in the Big Wharf, the largest slum in Freetown, and how hard and grim life is for its residents.

Not wanting to portray the stereotypical images of poverty you would find in a slum photo series, Thue's beautiful black and white images show us a realistic and harrowing view of a community filled with violence, addiction and forgotten opportunities.

The images are a reminder that that not everyone is as lucky as us, and not everyone gets their chance in life.
