Vertically Sliced Portraits

Amanda Clyne Shows Images From a Different Perspective

Amanda Clyne is someone truly extraordinary. Her life life thus far has been a journey full of trials, tribulations and great successes: as a young girl she was assaulted by teen boys. She then decided to go to law school; backpacked across Europe where she met a "tall dark and handsome" stranger; fell in love and moved to France; returned to New York to become a lawyer negotiating billion dollar deals; shifted to Singapore and some time later, to India. She finally settled into Toronto, attending art school at Ontario Collage of Arts and Design in 2009. She now works as a full-time artist producing these marvelous paintings.

Her vertically sliced portraits have been inspired by images from fashion magazines that she cuts, soaks in water, reassembles and thus, recreates the images. The end results are beautiful paintings with striking compositions.
