Construction and Factory Work is Made Easier With the 'Slave Arms'

Feel free to refund your tickets for Real Steel, an upcoming film about tele-operated robots, and start searching for cheap tickets to Salt Lake City to get your hands on the Slave Arms. Although, to be fair, it's likelier that the Slave Arms would get its hands on you!

The day-to-day operations on a construction site or under dangerous factory conditions can sometimes threaten the lives of contractors and often do. In the hopes of developing safer tools to handle heavy materiel, defense contractor Raytheon put their team to work on a tele-operated robot called Slave Arms. The operator installs himself into the chassis and slips his arms into the attached coils -- from that point onward, any physical movement will be mimicked by the android's 200-pound, 3-foot limbs. Although the Slave Arms are clearly meant for industrial purposes, I'd love to see two of these monstrosities fight. On second thought, I may hold onto my tickets to see Real Steel!
