There is a mismatched quality to the Single Hook that makes it stand out despite being a relatively simple design. By boasting a mix of handmade and machine-made materials, it provides a balance between two often opposing factions in modern society. Although there is as much of a rise in natural, handcrafted products as there is in machine-made ones, they can easily coexist even in the same item.
The Single Hook also combines a "fascination with South African craft and the clean aesthetic of our Scandinavian forefathers," as the designers state.
Created by Cape Town-based design firm Pedersen + Lennard, the Single Hook features a stamped out, laser-cut and powder-coated steel plate base that screws into the wall in order to anchor the relatively thick wooden dowel that acts as the actual hook.
