Alexa is Now Compatible with Simple Devices Like Thermostats

Amazon announced that Alexa will now be able to a number of different simple devices, including any device with 1MB of memory and a Cortex-M processor. This means that Alexa could be integrated into all kinds of home devices, including light bulbs, light switches, thermostats and more. Previously Alexa could only run on devices that had 100MB of RAM and an ARM Cortex-A processor.

The new capabilities mean that it could be integrated into all of the different simple devices in a person's home. This would allow Alexa users to be able to access their smart assistant wherever they are in their house. Dirk Didascalou, the AWS IoT VP, spoke about the new development. "I think that's a massive step towards this ambient intelligence via Alexa."
