The 'Passengers' Series by Simon Clarke is Poignant

In his 'Passengers' series, Simon Clarke explores life on-the-go. The photographs focus intently on the expressions people wear as they ride buses, trams and trains from one place to the other. Perhaps it is a bit of stretch, but the series seems metaphorical: just as people travel from one place to the other, so too are they traveling from their past into their future, even if that journey is only an hour or so. Whatever his intent, the expressions that Clarke captures in these passengers are sharply poignant.

Looking at the series, one cannot help but feel a certain connection to people who are essentially strangers. Some stare pensively from bus windows while others look furtively at their iPods. These are familiar movements for passengers.
