The Silt Set by Gautier Pelegrin can certainly be labeled as modern; however, its design looks remarkably like some of the culinary vessels one might have found in homes some hundreds and even thousands of years ago.
In collaboration with the Taiwanese Lin’s Ceramics Studio, the designer demonstrates that old ideas and natural materials are sometimes more efficiently applied to practical objects than are the latest technologies. The jugs and teacups of the Silt Set have been thrown from rich purple clay that's been fired twice and left unglazed, embodying properties that allow it to soften the taste of the liquid within it. The geometric shapes and the lovely earthy colors make them timelessly attractive as well.
