Sporty Shuttlecock Lights

These Sporty Patio Lights are Made from Upcycled Badminton Birdies

Daria of Kitten Hood creatively found a secondary use for badminton birdies when she turned a series of shuttlecocks into a string of sporty backyard lights. Up on Daria’s blog is an easy to follow how-to if you’d like to add these athletic lights to your outdoor decor.

To make this illuminating garland for your porch or deck, begin by collecting several shuttlecocks. While most shuttlecocks come in a white or neon yellow color scheme, feel free to change things up by painting the shuttlecocks in fun and bold colors. Daria even painted some of hers in a rainbow design. Then, thread through each shuttlecock’s mesh wings a clear dangling light garland. The mesh material will create a transparent shade for the soft glowing lights.
