Affordable Shipping Container Apartments

This Texas Development Features Seven Eco-Friendly Units

A pair of well-known San Antonio, Texas-based firms -- Development Strategies Inc. and Alamo Architects -- have teamed up to put together a shipping container apartment development in the town of Encinal, Texas. This housing development project consists of as many as seven shipping container-based apartments and is designed to be highly energy efficient, not to mention very affordable.

The interiors of these homes measure anywhere between 480 and 960 square feet, and are available in one-bedroom as well as two-bedroom configurations that cost a rent of $600 and $800 a month respectively. Each apartment is equipped with insulated doors, double-glazed windows and energy-efficient heating and ventilation to ensure a safe dwelling space.

Shipping container apartments are set to become increasingly important in many towns, and this particular project proves that such housing can be eco-friendly, comfortable, safe and affordable.
