Amelia Desnoyers Makes Sweet Saucers By Shaping Sugar

In her Shaping Sugar project, designer Amelia Desnoyers creates delicious cups through a delicate process of manipulating sweet sugar.

Inspired by the artwork created with hand blown glass pieces, the artist dyes her designs with food coloring to give the goblets the slightest tint of color while maintaining their translucent appearance. An incredibly malleable material, sugar starts out as solid particles which can be turned into a syrupy liquid which, in turn, can be returned to a solid, taking on new shapes and designs. The delicate glasses infuse the beverages withing them with the mouth-watering sweetness of the sugar they are made out of, reinvigorating the whole drinking experience.

Choosing her shapes and colors, Amelia Desnoyers makes scrumptious dishware as part of her Shaping Sugar project.
