3D Shadow Art

Adding an Extra Dimension to Shadow with Computer Graphics

Some fascinating Technology will be introduced at the 2nd Annual 2009 ACM SIGGRAPH Asia, Pulse of Innovation Conference taking place December 16-19 in Japan. One Presentation, an amazing new computer model, adds a dimension to the 2D Shadow Art we are familiar with.

The Developers, Niloy Mitra and Mark Pauly use a famous Andy Warhol painting as one of their Shadow Art examples to demonstrate the computer modeling design capability. "A seemingly random vowel soup embedded into a glass cube creates three distinct shadow images."

It will be interesting to watch the architectural designs that emerge from this new computer graphic technology.
