Giant Iconic Statues

Seward Johnson Unviels 26-Foot Sculpture of Marilyn Monroe

The windy city of Chicago has a new addition to it, a 26-foot tall sculpture of the iconic Marilyn Monroe designed by Seward Johnson.

The sculpture is displayed on a square on Michigan Avenue and is a reproduction of the famous pose from the 1955 movie The Seven Year Itch. Just like in the movie, the sculpture includes the iconic white dress blowing up from the vent air.

The aluminum and stainless steel statue weighs a massive 34,000 pounds and is on display until spring of 2012.

Seward Johnson explained Marilyn is a symbol of beauty as well as an iconic symbol of an era, but he wanted to demonstrate how certain things can last forever and still have an affect on people today.

This marvel is amazing because it will help bring a connection of the 50's and 60's eras to the people even if they were not alive then.
